Internal
Medicine/Pediatrics Combined Program

A Welcome Message from the
Residency Director,
Paul D. Cooper,
M.D....

Thank you for your interest in the Pediatric Residency
Program at the
Louisiana
State
University
Health
Sciences
Center
in
Shreveport
. This is an exciting time in your
life and we want to help you achieve your career goals.
Our program is a small to medium size program that takes 8 categorical
residents per year. We strive to
offer the very best in pediatric training. We
have a great group of residents who work well together and view each other as
family. Our superb faculty see
teaching and patient care as their fundamental purposes and are always available
to the house staff. Education is of
the utmost priority, and we have didactic teaching conferences and/or morning
report daily. Every first year
resident is provided with a Nelson Textbook of Pediatrics and Pediatric MedStudy
Board Review Curriculum as well as the
American
Academy
of Pediatrics PREP Curriculum and book and travel allowance over the course of
the three years of residency. There
are also many opportunities for the residents to teach both fellow house
officers and medical students.
We are located in
Shreveport
, a city of about 200,000 people in the Northwest corner of
Louisiana
. It is a great place to live with
very little traffic congestion and plenty of good food.
Shreveport
is family friendly with affordable housing and many neighborhood parks and
jogging trails.
Please look around our website.
It has lots of information which will help you get to know us better.
