Construction on the $6.75 million, outpatient clinic for pediatrics, obstetrics and
gynecology began July 7, 1999. The new Womens and Childrens Clinic
is located on the northwest corner of Kings Highway and Linwood Avenue, across from LSU
Hospital. The Clinic opened March 2001 and receives
approximately 75,000 patient visits per year. Dr. Joseph Bocchini, Chairman of the
Department of Pediatrics, said that the unit functions like a private office and gives
patients the same experience that they would have in any office in the community.
The 55,000 square foot clinic provides space for general pediatrics,
pediatric subspecialties, and pediatric resident continuity clinics, as well
as separate waiting areas for sick and well patients. The clinic also boasts
numerous teaching areas, as well as the latest technology in digital
radiography.
