THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF
Goals 1. Provide the
students with the opportunity to observe an in-depth approach to the diagnosis
and management of common selected pediatric illnesses as treated and taught by
the subspecialty staff 2. Provide the students with the opportunity to observe the role of the subspecialty staff in the realm of pediatric illnesses in an ambulatory setting. 3. Increase the student’s fund of pediatric knowledge concerning common, uncommon and rare conditions. Objectives At completion of the clerkship, the students will be able to: 1. Identify the important role of the pediatric subspecialist in the diagnosis and management of common, uncommon, or rare pediatric illnesses in an ambulatory setting. 2. Understand more thoroughly the various treatment options available to the pediatric patient as a result of subspecialty evaluation.
Because students never have the opportunity to improve skills specific to a particular subspecialty, students will not be graded in the subspecialty clinics. However, attendance is REQUIRED!!! Failure to attend an assigned subspecialty clinic (see absence policy for exceptions) will result in an incomplete or failure in the course. |
