Thirty high school students are exposed to eight weeks of intense hands-on research activities conducted by LSUHSC faculty who serve as mentors. Selected students will work in a research lab or clinical setting 40 hours per week for eight weeks. Each Thursday students will participate in supplemental activities, which include library, hospital, animal care tours, and receive lectures from health care professionals. At the end of the program, each student is required to present a poster paper that demonstrates his/her ability to evaluate scientific data as it relates to their summer research activities. Students will be encouraged to pursue careers in medicine, research or allied health professions.
