Department of Internal Medicine

Mission Statement

The Department of Internal Medicine of Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, offers post-graduate training designed to produce competent physicians who are prepared for practice in a variety of settings, in addition to teaching, research, or progression to subspecialty training in the field of Internal Medicine. The Department also participates in a four year combined Medicine/Pediatrics residency, and plays a key role in the training of residents in many other fields. The program emphasizes excellence of patient care in a nurturing educational environment where there is close personal interaction between residents and a dedicated faculty.
