Key Faculty
Larry E. Slay, M.D. In the twenty plus years on the faculty of LSU Health Sciences Center, I've worked with hundreds of residents. Their backgrounds and clinical skills upon entering the program have varied widely. But, with few exceptions, they have completed their training here as superb clinicians who were fully prepared for the next step in their medical careers. In fact, I strongly believe that our residents can hold their own clinically with those of the most renowned institutions in the United States. I like to think of our program as a "balanced attack" (with apologies to the LSU football team!): We strive for a balance between patient care and didactic educaion of residents; between common diseases and the "zebras"; between primary and tertiary care; and between resident autonomy and faculty supervision. No matter what your goals for postgraduate medical education may be, we would be delighted to have the opportunity to show you what we have to offer. If you have questions that are not answered in these pages, please do not hesitate to contact me.
