Turning Off Underlining In Microsoft Internet Explorer

You may like to see your Microsoft Internet Explorer browser links underlined--and then again, you may not. If you'd like to turn off the underlining, choose Tools and select Internet Options. When the dialog box opens, click the Advanced tab. Scroll down to Underline Links. You have three choices here--you can always underline links, you can underline links only when the mouse pointer passes over them (Hover), or you can turn off underlining completely. Select the appropriate radio button and click OK.

Working With The Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Favorites

You can use some keystrokes to help you organize your Favorites folder in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6. To see how this works, click on Favorites and select Organize Favorites. To move a URL down in the list, hold Alt and press the Down arrow.

Working In The Microsoft Internet Explorer Address Bar

When you need to modify a URL in the Microsoft Internet Explorer Address Bar, it's easy to make a mistake because it's usually difficult to see the entire address when the Address Bar width is narrow. If you click in the Address Bar and then press Home to move the cursor to the start of the address, you can then press Ctrl and Right arrow keys (CTRL + g) on your keyboard simultaneously to move the cursor to the next break (forward slash /, comma, dash, etc.).

Sizing Microsoft Internet Explorer New Windows

To open a new window from a link in Microsoft Internet Explorer, you hold down the Shift key while you click the link. By default, this new page will not open maximized. However, you can open a new window this way and then close your original window. Now, stretch the new window to the full size of your screen. Then, close the second window. From this point on, a new window opened by holding Shift while you click a link should open to full screen.

Opening Search in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 offers several ways to open the Search Companion (isn't it interesting how a window on a monitor has become a "companion"). The most common method is to click the Search button in the IE 6 toolbar. However, you can also open Search by clicking View in the menu bar, selecting Explorer Bar and choosing Search.

If you like to use keyboard shortcuts, you can press Ctrl + E to open the Search Companion.

A New Home Page for Microsoft Internet Explorer 6

Instead of going through all the steps to open Internet Options from the menu when you want to change your home page, just navigate to the page you want. Now, grab the icon in the Address Bar (at the left side of the URL) and drag it to Home button. When you release the mouse button, you'll be asked if you want to set your home page to this URL. Just click Yes and you now have a new home page.

Deleting Cookies in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6

Microsoft Internet Explorer never offered an easy way to delete cookies--until Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 came along. You can now delete those no longer needed cookies quite easily. Click OK to close the dialog box and return to IE 6.
