EMAILS BEARING GIFTS
Here at the end of the
year, we in the Desktop Support area begin to reflect on all the events of the
past 12 months. One of the biggest challenges we faced this
year has been the invasion of our email systems by viruses on a regular basis. With so many evil programmer terrorists in
the world bent on developing the perfect untouchable destructive code, we need
to take the opportunity to remind all of you to practice safe downloading and
safe sharing of files. Keep your antivirus
software up-to-date (for Windows users, see article Updating Antivirus
in this newsletter) and never open up an attachment or file that looks or sounds
suspicious.
Best rule of thumb...don't accept candy from strangers. Delete messages with attachments that have been sent from individuals you don't know, have been sent from multiple individuals, or just plain don't look right to you.
