Video Services & TeleHealth

Video conferencing and Telemedicine

Video Services & TeleHealth, a Section of the Department of Biometry at LSU Health Sciences Center - Shreveport, operates a statewide videoconferencing network providing healthcare outreach to both rural and urban sites in Louisiana. Videoconferencing allows distant medical facilities 'live' via two-way audio and video for instant, interactive, and effective communication.

This network allows physicians and other healthcare providers at distant sites to receive Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits necessary for re-accreditation in their field. It also saves travel time and expense by linking institutions for meetings. Videoconferencing provides statewide telemedicine consultations with patients and physicians at rural hospitals, clinics, and correctional facilities.

By connecting to LSU Health Sciences Center in N.O. our network can  link to hospitals and clinics throughout  the state. As of April 2003, the LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport connects and provides technical support to the following sites:

LSUHSCS Family Practice Center - Alexandria, LA
Bunkie General Hospital, Bunkie, LA
LaSalle General Hospital, Jena, LA
East Louisiana Rural Health Clinic, Jonesville, LA
E.A. Conway Memorial Hospital, Monroe, LA
Madison Parish Hospital, Tallulah, LA
Huey P. Long Medical Center, Pineville, LA
North Caddo Medical Center, Vivian, LA
