Video Services & TeleHealth,
a Section of the Department of Biometry at LSU Health
Sciences Center - Shreveport, operates a statewide
videoconferencing network providing healthcare outreach
to both rural and urban sites in Louisiana. Videoconferencing
allows distant medical facilities 'live' via two-way
audio and video for instant, interactive, and effective
communication.
This network allows physicians and other healthcare
providers at distant sites to receive Continuing Medical
Education (CME) credits necessary for re-accreditation
in their field. It also saves travel time and expense
by linking institutions for meetings. Videoconferencing
provides statewide telemedicine consultations with
patients and physicians at rural hospitals, clinics,
and correctional facilities.
By connecting to LSU Health Sciences Center in N.O.
our network can link to hospitals and clinics
throughout the state. As of April 2003, the
LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport connects
and provides technical support to the following sites:
