Fellowship Training Program

Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism

Department of Internal Medicine

The Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism program is designed to provide fellows with a comprehensive experience in all aspects of endocrine disorders and diabetes. The LSU Health Sciences Center and the VA Medical Center provide an excellent educational environment and a wealth of patients, encompassing the complete spectrum of endocrine disease and metabolic disease.

The high ratio of faculty to fellows assures that each fellow has extensive faculty contact and supervision in his or her clinical work. This in turn assures that over the course of the program our fellows develop a high level of clinical competence and the confidence to function independently in the specialty of endocrinology. The success of this program is documented by the fact that all program graduates have passed the certifying examination in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism on their first attempt.

An extensive library of textbooks and Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism journals are maintained in the Section of Endocrinology and is readily available to the fellows. In addition, there are computer terminals for residents with full access to the internet, library, and medical center resources.
