Steps For Hiring Civil Service Positions

1. Create/update position descriptions (Classification and Pay section)
2. Complete and submit PER-1 to request filling of position
3. Vacancy will be announced, applications screened and eligible applicant list will be prepared (Classified Staffing)
4. Department will conduct interviews, make hiring decision, complete reference checks and return paperwork to HR
5. HR will review all paperwork for completion, make job offer, schedule drug screen, establish effective hire date

Steps For Hiring Temporary Positions

1. Create vacancy (Classification and Pay section)
2. Complete and submit PER-1 to request filling of position
3. If desired, prepare announcement for posting. Recruiting assistance is available via internal web site (Classified Staffing)
4. Submit selection to assigned HR representative
5. HR will review all paperwork for completion, make job offer, schedule drug screen, establish effective hire date
