Types of Temporary Positions:   (Bi-Weekly Employment)



A job appointment is a temporary appointment that may last up to a maximum of three years; however, its duration shall not exceed its actual need. Such appointments may be used only for the following reasons:
a) for work of a temporary nature;
b) to substitute for another employee; or,
c) for projects not expected to last over three years.

Administrative Procedures:
• Prepare written justification for the temporary appointment including suggested Civil Service title
• Route justification with PER-1
• Position description and FTE is required
• Position can be full or part time
• Maximum length of appointment is 3 years
• Applicant earns leave
• Applicant eligibile for all benefits for retirement
• Applicant eligible for merit
• Applicant has to meet minimum qualification requirements for selected job
• Test score is required
• HR Classified Staffing can post vacancy on internal web site and job board
• HR Classified Staffing will screen candidates
