What is
the difference between
Civil Service (Classified) positions and
Unclassified positions?
Civil Service (Classified) positions are positions that are governed by the policies and procedures of the State Civil Service.
Civil Service Competitive positions typically require that a State Civil Service test be taken or the application is rated based on experience and training.
Non-Competitive positions require that you must only meet the minimum requirements.
Unclassified positions are positions that are governed by the policies and procedures of the organization, LSU Health Sciences Center. These positions are exempt from the State Civil Service exam. However, most positions require the applicant to possess a degree from an accredited university and/or Licensure or certification in a specific field of study.
